Re-cover of the classic novel, The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair.
design x intention: On this classic novel re-cover, I decided it was important to capture the feelings associated with being in a “jungle.” Of course, this jungle is unlike any other.
The urban jungle is one that stands alone in the realm of jungles. One where blue-collar workers must navigate to survive an environment often times, no less harsh than the Amazon.
Vertical lines in a jungley-recognizable color scheme play off the vertical lines of the ominous time-period hint of a building. Creation of depth finds its way to visual interest as the tool-topped lines weave through the text to suggest the navigation of daily life in city. Font choices further suggest when this all went down.
